It was developed in the 1930s by a DuPont\u00ae chemist, Wallace Carothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Good elasticity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resistance to cuts, abrasion and crushing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refractory to ageing, oxidation and UV rays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent heat and flame resistance (self-extinguishing)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inability to conduct electric current<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inertia to chemical agents, oils, hydrocarbons and solvents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Impermeability to air, ozone and many other gases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fair resistance to permanent deformation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fair dielectric properties<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-8f0d0c46\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>NBR<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The characteristics of <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">NBR vulcanisates<\/mark> depend primarily on the acrylonitrile content of the nitrile rubber used and on the type and quantity of plasticiser. These NBR vulcanisates have <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">good resistance<\/mark> to petrol, oils and mineral greases, but are poorly resistant to ageing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Impact resistance (from 10 to 50%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elongation at break (100 to 700% and more)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resistance to low temperatures (between -10 \u00b0C and -50 \u00b0C)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gas permeability significantly lower than vulcanisates of NR, IR, BR, SBR, EPM, EPDM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Poor resistance<\/mark> to ozone, aging and bad weather, but still better than natural rubber<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remarkable chemical resistance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-f5eb864d\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong>VITON\u00ae<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>FKM fluorinated compounds were developed and launched on the market by DuPont\u00ae in 1958, under the VITON\u00ae brand. These polymers are made from a combination of <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">hydrocarbons with high fluorine content<\/mark>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Good resistance to fuels, hot oils and flame<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Very high impermeability to air and gas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good resistance to fats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High heat resistance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resistant to aging<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High mechanical resistance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-4d512299\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong>VMQ (or &#8220;Silicone Rubbers&#8221;)<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Silicone rubbers <\/mark>have a different nature than all other elastomers. They differ in that they are not pure organic compounds: their molecules are not chains of carbon atoms, but of<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"> silicon and oxygen<\/mark> with alkyl links. <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Silicone rubber compounds<\/mark> contain &#8211; in addition to rubber &#8211; inorganic fillers (often pigments) and a vulcanizer, mostly a peroxide or catalyst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Good resistance to fuels, hot oils and flame (thanks to the presence of fluorine)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good resistance to fats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High heat resistance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resistant to aging<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High mechanical resistance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-21c1fab9\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong>Epichlorohydrin<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The epichlorohydrin copolymer is suitable for use in situations where thermal and mechanical stresses are not high, but where <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">direct contact with air <\/mark>is possible. This material in fact shows good <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">resistance to aging<\/mark>, as long as the operating temperature remains<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"> below 140\u00b0C<\/mark>. Once these levels are exceeded, ATAG does not recommend their use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Good chemical resistance<\/mark> to solvents, oils and chemical agents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It offers <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">thermal stability<\/mark> at moderately high temperatures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safety and handling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-8a58a589\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong>Epichloridine<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">EPDM vulcanisates <\/mark>have good resistance to heat, aging and chemical agents, as well as good elasticity, good resistance to low temperatures and good insulating power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Impact resistance from 40 to 60%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elongation at break from 150 to 500% <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Heat resistance <\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resistance to low temperatures, down to approximately -50 \u00b0C <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High gas permeability <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Remarkable chemical resistance<\/mark> (for the saturated polymer chain)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-96fbd0a2\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>NR<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>NR rubber, also known as <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Para rubber<\/mark>, is characterized by a light brown color and a hardness between 40 and 45 Shore A. In pure form, it has a <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">relatively low specific weight<\/mark>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>High mechanical strength<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent elasticity and abrasion resistance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Very low weight<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator uagb-block-3116eb62\"><div class=\"wp-block-uagb-separator__inner\" style=\"--my-background-image:\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Polyurethane<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Polyurethane is a material widely used to make <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">gaskets<\/mark>, including custom ones and other sealing devices. This compound stands out for its <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">high mechanical strength<\/mark>, notable ability to elongate before breaking and excellent resistance to wear, humidity and cuts. Furthermore, it remains <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">elastic<\/mark> over a wide &#8220;range&#8221; of temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The features:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Great flexibility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High elasticity, even at different temperatures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good resistance to <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">permanent deformation<\/mark> (compression-set)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resistance to solvents and oils<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resistance to breakage and tearing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Easily colorable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poor resistance to UV radiation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0,
